MMT - The quintessence of KORG Analog Modeling Technology

KORG's MMT engine provides a large number of the sound generators developed by KORG, drawing on KORG's vast resources of analog modeling technology. This gives you an extremely wide range of sounds - including convincing-sounding, analog recreations. Incidentally, the multi-modeling technology is the same high-end synthesis that is also under the hood of RADIAS, R3 and Electribe MX. In the microKORG XL + it ensures a phenomenal performance, because driven by two MMT oscillators you can elicit fat and powerful sounds from the small "XL +". Oscillator 1 not only offers the usual waveforms one would expect from an analog synthesizer: there are no fewer than seven types of algorithms including formant waveforms for shaping the human voice as well as noise and PCM / DWGS waveforms for vintage keyboards and strings one here. Cross modulation, unison and VPM (Variable Phase Modulation) create sounds that would not be possible with a conventional PCM synthesizer. Oscillator 2 can be used in conjunction with oscillator 1 for modulation (sync or ring modulation). This makes programming complex, powerful sounds child's play.

Equipped with two multi-mode filters, a circuit for drive/wave shaping, which can add extra flavor to the sounds through distortion, as well as an envelope generator and LFO, the microKORG XL + offers numerous possibilities for sound shaping. Even modular interconnections such as KORG's MS synthesizers are possible, simulated by "virtual patching". A flexible arpeggiator that can handle six arpeggio patterns provides further creative possibilities. External audio sources can be looped into the audio input and processed in full edit mode with all the synthesis parameters available in the microKORG XL +.

A vocoder with a wide range of uses - including robot voices

With a microphone and the microKORG XL + vocoder, sounds can be "bent" extensively. From the "talk box" effect, pseudo choirs, sci-fi robot voices to "speaking" instruments, everything is possible. In order to make synth tracks rhythmically more interesting, it is possible to use external instruments such as a drum machine. With the unique formant hold function, the formants of your own voice can be frozen in order to process them with further vocoder effects. But the microKORG XL + offers more than the simulation of classic vocoder sounds: With the formant shift function, it is possible to shift formants, and you can also make level and panorama settings for each of the 16 filter bands and thus the tonal character of a voice completely change. Fascinating sound structures and sounds far removed from traditional vocoder effects are possible with this. A gooseneck microphone is included, so you can get started right away!

128 impressive sounds - super easy to choose!

With the microKORG XL you could choose the desired sound with two large wheels for "Music Genre" and "Instrument Category". In order to do justice to today's fast-paced music scene, the new microKORG XL + has been equipped with a further selection of "music genres", with which the preset suitable for the song can be found almost intuitively. You can simply leave one of the wheels fixed during the song and either change presets with the other wheel (fixed music genre) or select vocoder variations (fixed instrument category).

The microKORG XL + offers an abundance of fresh, analog modeled synthesizer sounds, which already set the microKORG apart. The piano sound of the famous Korg SGproX stage piano (which asserts itself in every mix) and its crystal clear electric piano sound have been added especially for band use. This compact package also contains sounds from the legendary M1 and the VOX organ, as well as a selection of tape-based string and flute emulators and other spectacular sounds from the beginning of keyboard history. All 128 presets can be used directly and make the microKORG XL + a variable, full-fledged main keyboard or second instrument for your rig.

Dual Effects Processor

The two master effects processors used in the microKORG XL + come from the KAOSS series, whose state-of-the-art effects go far beyond conventional effect algorithms such as delay and chorus. 17 algorithms including ring modulation and grain shifter ensure a variety of effects. In addition, the delay effects can be synchronized with the MIDI clock, which makes the microKORG XL + ideal for use in studio and live situations.

Compact playability with high expressiveness

The feel of the newly developed Natural Touch mini keyboard is flawless. The key proportions have been adjusted again and allow fluid chord changes. The optimized keystroke of the Waterfall keyboard favors fast phrases and is predestined for subtle playing techniques such as slides and glissandi.

Sound editor for free!

The microKORG XL + can be connected to a computer via a USB cable in order to use the sound editor software (available as a free download) to organize sounds and edit all parameters from the computer. In addition, the download of the microKORG XL Editor contains converted sound programs of the presets from microKORG and MS2000 / MS2000B in the format of the microKORG XL + free of charge.
