More Power - More Effects - More Extras was the development approach of the "original" PowerMate and its exemplary implementation set clear milestones for mixers with integrated effects and power amplifiers. With a PowerMate professional users have mixers, multi- effects and amplifiers with concert sound performance that leave nothing to be desired in terms of a compact, portable but still very powerful system solution as a small PA. Innovation dominates not only in the consistent further development of an ingenious solution approach, but above all in many technical details, operating ergonomics, operational reliability, energy management and design. Here, the perfection of all components is combined with the passion of the developers: Perfection - Passion - PowerMate . Ideal solution for a huge variety of applications While an integrated solution in the form of a power mixer has long been the tried and tested and preferred alternative for many live music applications, PowerMates with their flexible performance profile have long since found their way into hotels, churches, halls, music schools, clubs and restaurants, but of course also in the rental business as a comfortable, compact, lightweight and very easy-to-use system for small to medium-sized events. MIC/LINE inputs The XLR microphone input is equipped with a very high-quality and extremely low-noise discrete preamplifier. +48V phantom power for condenser microphones can be switched on in groups of 6. The line input and channel insert are designed as jack sockets. The gain can be adjusted with the gain control in the range of 0 - 60 dB. The switchable lo-cut filter (80 Hz, 18 dB) is used to suppress low-frequency noise. A very typical DYNACORD feature is the asymmetrical voicing filter, which can be used to powerfully emphasize the voice from the mix if required. The user-optimized 3-band tone control with semi-parametric mids provides the desired correction result quickly and intuitively even to the inexperienced user. With its extended bus structure, the PowerMate -3 offers very flexible configuration options. A total of 6 AUX buses are available: 2 (FX) are assigned to the two effect paths 2 (AUX) can be configured as either a monitor path or an effect path by switching the total. 2 (MON) are designed as monitor paths and both have a tunable anti-feedback filter in total. All input channels can be muted and/or pre-listened to individually. The MUTE and PFL switches, each with an associated LED display, are used for this purpose. The "Signal Present" and "Peak" LEDs are used for controlling the level on each channel. The channel fader is dust-proof and offers very high crosstalk attenuation and a control characteristic optimized for practical use. All potentiometers and faders are high-quality ALPS components. Stereo MIC/LINE inputs The stereo inputs are largely the same, but optimized for use with stereo signals. 2 of the 4 stereo inputs also have parallel-connected RCA sockets for connecting CD or MP3 players. The other two stereo inputs also receive the 4 channels of the digital audio interface USB1-2 and USB3-4. Separate gain controls for the stereo line and the microphone input allow parallel use of the stereo and mic inputs if required. The tone control is three-band, a balance control replaces the PAN control of the mono channel strips. Master The PowerMate is also very well equipped in the master section. The 11-band stereo equalizer can be routed to either the master channels or to one or both monitor channels. The FX1 + 2 returns and the AUX1 + 2 and MON1 + 2 sends are on faders, as is the master L/R signal, which allows for convenient and clear operation. The master B signal can be tapped pre or post master A fader and mono summed if required. The master signal is also available at the adjustable REC send cinch output. The level display in the PowerMate consists of two LED chains with 12 LEDs per chain. The display range is 40 dB and shows the level in dBu at the master outputs. When the PFL switch is pressed, the left LED chain shows the internal level of the master bus in dBu. The standby switch mutes all channels during breaks, for example, while only the 2TRACK to Master input remains active for playing break music. A 4-pin XLR socket allows a standard 12V/5W gooseneck light to be connected. DIGITAL USB 2.0 AUDIO INTERFACE The USB 2.0 interface serves as the PowerMate 's digital audio interface to a PC or Mac. Four channels can be transmitted simultaneously in each direction. This means that this interface can be used both to play audio signals (e.g. playback, break music) and for live and studio recording applications. Configuration is done in a separate menu item on the display. To use the PowerMate with a PC/Mac, a free Cubase LE license and the corresponding USB drivers are included on the supplied DVD. PC-MIDI interface The PowerMate also provides a full-fledged PC-MIDI interface. The two internal effects sections can also be switched via a master keyboard or MIDI foot switch via the MIDI input. Professional effects, OLED display and processing menus The PowerMate has two independently operating integrated stereo multi-effects sections, each with 100 live-optimized effect programs, the key parameters of which can be edited. Linear 24-bit AD/DA converters and 48-bit double-precision processing guarantee the highest studio quality using the latest technology. High-quality reverbs, halls and plates are available on each of the 100 program slots, producing professional results both live on stage and in the studio and for home recording. Other presets include echo/reverb, chorus/reverb, mixing programs, different delays, flanger, chorus and doubling, as well as special reverb and delay programs. If a delay effect is active, the delay time can be adjusted to the beat of the music by pressing the TAP Key . Edited effect programs can be saved in 20 user locations, named and then called up like presets. The large, high-contrast OLED display is always easy to read, even from wide viewing angles and even in very bright surroundings. The effect section and the processing menus are operated intuitively using soft keys and a rotary encoder. Processing menus A variety of editing options are available in numerous menus for basic settings, configuration, effect operation and special functions. The LPN processing and speaker protection menus are particularly valuable for optimally adapting the selected loudspeakers to the PowerMate and thus for the audio performance and operational reliability of the system. LPN processing Typical PA loudspeakers with small to medium volumes exhibit distortions in the transient response of the woofer for physical reasons - regardless of the design and quality of the loudspeakers used. Since this transient distortion cannot be improved with graphic or parametric equalizers, the PowerMate has a configurable LPN (Low Pass notch ) filter. Depending on the size of the loudspeaker used and also to adapt to certain room acoustic conditions (e.g. bass-heavy, booming rooms), the LPN filter can be set to high or medium. The result is a much more powerful punch (e.g. bass drum), extended transmission range downwards and improved transparency in the entire bass/midrange range. Speaker Protection This menu allows the continuous output power of the PowerMate amplifiers to be optimally and reliably adapted to the connected loudspeakers. By dynamically limiting the maximum power at the output, loudspeaker damage due to thermal overload can be avoided without having to forego the high dynamics of the amplifiers. The maximum permissible nominal load capacity of the connected loudspeaker can be selected in the menu. The actual dynamic peak load capacity in audio mode is a multiple of this nominal value for almost all loudspeakers. The Speaker Protection now permanently monitors the energy supplied to the loudspeakers and only limits it gently and inaudibly in the event of an impending overload. The full power amplifier output is therefore available for short-term peak levels, even when relatively small speakers are used. The result is maximum system dynamics with the highest operational reliability. Professional Class-D high-performance power amplifiers. The PowerMate has a professional, extremely powerful stereo power amplifier in modern, highly efficient Class-D technology. This means that with a nominal output power of 2 x 1,000 watts RMS at 4 ohms (or 2 x 1,350 watts RMS at 2.7 ohms), only a comparatively low amount of heat is generated in the device and the power consumption has been significantly reduced (> 55%) compared to conventional power amplifiers. The minimum load impedance at the output is 2.7 ohms, which means that operation with a maximum of three 8 ohm loudspeakers per channel connected in parallel is no problem. The audio performance is at the highest professional level and offers exemplary values in terms of freedom from distortion, slew rate and freedom from intermodulation. The entire power supply is provided by an extremely load-stable, microprocessor-controlled switching power supply, which achieves a massive weight saving compared to conventional toroidal transformers. Another advantage is the automatic mains voltage switching, which practically ensures that the PowerMate can be used worldwide without reconfiguration. Overvoltage protection is also built in. An inrush current limiter (soft start) prevents the mains fuse from responding when the device is switched on. The PowerMate naturally has all the protective circuits known from DYNACORD power amplifiers and meets even the extreme requirements of tough touring use. The power amplifiers are protected against overheating, overload, short circuit, back EMF, idle operation, and high frequency or direct voltage at the output. Both outputs are monitored separately so that in the event of a fault only the affected channel is switched off. When the device is switched on, the power outputs are switched on with a delay to avoid any interference. The thermal stability of the PowerMate is ensured by two continuously controlled fans with a very low noise level. The front-to-rear air flow allows operation even in large and narrow racks. The PowerMate also has a processor-controlled thermal limiter; in the event of impending overheating, only the power peaks are limited by a musically operating clip limiter. This effectively prevents the power amplifier from switching off completely without a noticeable reduction in volume. LEDs for PROTECT and LIMIT on the front panel show the current operating status of the power amplifiers. Innovative solution for protection and transport The 1000 and 1600 models are supplied with a very robust plastic cover with an integrated carrying handle, a very innovative solution for optimal protection and transport comfort. Due to its dimensions, a flight case solution is recommended for the large 2200 model (a dust cover is optionally available: DC-PM2200-COVER).
