Built on a Legacy Our TRUTH monitors have been so successful, we have sold thousands of them to some of the most critical ears on the planet, ears that demand the neutral sound of a true reference monitor. Ask any recording engineer and they will tell you that listening to a recording using only one type of studio monitor usually does not provide a true representation of the mix. Since most people listen to music at home, in their cars, on their MP3 players, it is important that the final mix in the studio is listened to on as many different speakers as possible. That's why we built these little B1031A monitors. They are also the ideal choice as rear speakers in a surround setup. Years of research and development Over the last three years, our research and development department has been tasked with creating the "perfect" studio monitor. Since the TRUTH B2031A became the industry standard, our engineers decided to take it a step further and see how far the limit could be pushed. They tried out different drivers and housing shapes as well as existing technology and future technologies. When the dust settled, they chose an ultra-high-resolution 1" dome tweeter and a long-throw 8" Kevlar cone speaker in the B1031A . Why Kevlar? Glad you asked. Kevlar has a very good strength to weight ratio, which is why it is used for bulletproof vests. Kevlar gives our woofers the strength to reproduce extremely high-energy levels of body-crushing bass signals without distortion. And due to their low mass, Kevlar drivers can react much faster than cardboard cones, which is important for clean reproduction in the midrange. Our Kevlar speakers can reproduce the lowest tones cleanly without muddying the midrange. Power to the People It takes more than just a "bulletproof" speaker and a high-tech tweeter to build a studio monitor in this class. It also requires amplification power, plenty of it. And the most important thing: the amplifier performance must be perfectly adapted to the speakers. That's why we developed all components from scratch. We built a 150-watt power amplifier using biamped technology (including a phase and time-correcting active crossover) into each B103A to ensure that you always have the power reserves you need to make it really loud. Designed to Work in Your Environment The ideal listening environment is a "linear" space that has neither too much reflection nor too much absorption. But since all rooms are acoustically different, the TRUTH monitors can be operated in a wide variety of environments. Switches allow you to adjust the bass and treble characteristics for optimal playback in your listening environment. The setup is also critical. If possible, all speakers should not be positioned directly on walls for clean bass reproduction. But don't worry, the B1031A have room adjustment switches so you can place them directly on walls or in corners. One or two switch positions are enough to enable honest bass reproduction. No fatigue, wide radiation range Some of our competitors' studio monitors have a defined focus of sound radiation, an optimal listening position for a pair of speakers. Our horn design is designed for a wider, more open listening zone. This means you don't have a hole in the carpet where it sounds best. You can move freely around the stereo image to find the ideal position for each instrument or effects in the mix. You also won't experience "listening fatigue," an effect that occurs when exposed to strong high-mid and treble signals for hours on end, a big advantage for all those all-night mix sessions that tax your nerves. What about the RCA connections? Yes, it's a bit unusual to have RCA connectors on a studio monitor - but why not? Now you can connect the B1031A directly to your computer, MP3 player or TV receiver. For versatility, you can use one of our USB audio interfaces (e.g. UCA222) to connect to the computer. This setup allows you to listen to, mix and master your recording projects directly on your computer. You can set up the speakers directly on your video monitor because the B1031A are magnetically shielded.
