Pure tube tone in a compact body. There is a new kid in town and it's a tough one with a mind-blowing attitude. The new ENGL E606 Ironball. This 20 watt, all-tube head made in Germany is designed to fulfill the needs from players of all styles of music who demand sonic versatility and useful features in a handy, small-sized format. The Ironball delivers warm and rich clean sounds plus organic crunch sounds. The rhythm tones are chunky and the leads are fat and juicy, which you would not expect from an amp this size.

Bei Engl geht man immer davon aus, dass der Amp äusserst ausgezeichnetes high gain liefert. Das ist bei dieser 'kleinen' Version nicht anders. Jedoch kann der im Vergleich zu Engl's grösseren high gain Monster wesentlich mehr liefern was die Soundvielfältigkeit betrifft. Im Prinzip 2 Kanäle (Clean/Lead) mit einschaltbarem Gainboost, je eine Gainreglung, gemeinsames Equalizer und Presence und hinten die geschickte Powersoak funktion. Soundmässig kann man sehr gute cleans, bluesige, jazzige geschichten bis zum Hard Rock im 1. Kanal (clean) errreichen. Dabei dreht man den gain nur auf (bei reduzierendem Master Volume) und hat da zusätzlich die gainboost Option. Der 2. Kanal fährt dort weiter wo der 1. aufgehört hat. Gain mit mehr als genug Reserven ohne dass es matscht. Wie man das so von Engl kennt. Bestens geeignet für ACDC, Deep Purple, Van Halen, Iron Maiden, Metallica und die restlichen Metal Geschichten:) Der high gain sound ist doch nicht 100% der Engl sound wie bei Powerball oder Fireball, sondern ein Tick britischer aber ohne zu matschen (anders bei Marshall z.B.)
Der Sound ist 1. Sahne. Man bekommt den Sound den man möchte und das zu sehr guter Qualität.
Gebaut ist der Kleine wie ein Panzer und sieht dabei sehr chic aus. Auch bei nur 20 Watt ist der ein Brüllmonster. Kombiniert mit einem 4x12 kann der viele seiner grösseren Brüder in den Schatten stellen. Sehr mittig aber auch etwas bässig und durchaus fähig durch den Mix zu schneiden.
Geeignet für home recording, als Übungsamp aber auch tauglich in kleinen bis mittelgrossen Venues. Der Preis, da handmade in germany, ist gerechtfertigt. Daher sollte der Amp einige Jahre durchhalten bei richtigem Gebrauch.
Merke: der Powersoak darf nur mit 8Ohm benutzt werden. Ich selber spiele den durch eine Mesa Boogie Mini Rectifier slant V30 60Watt. Eine gelungene Kombination! 

Allzweck 'Lunchbox-Amp'

Für den Einsatz im Probelokal und für kleinere Gigs sehr geeignet. Der Röhrensound ist einwandfrei und passt. Der Ironball eignet sich für verschiedene Musikstile und lässt sich aufgrund der kompakten und deswegen auch leichten Bauweise gut transportieren. Leider musste der Ironball aufgrund eines technischen Problems nach 10 Monaten im Einsatz ersetzt werden. Dies wurde von Musix wie gewohnt, speditiv und professionell erledigt. 
Insgesamt sehr empfehlenswert!
