SPL expands the product line of "Power Soaks" for guitarists. The active versions TRANSDUCER and CABULATOR with cabinet sound simulation are now joined by the REDUCER, a purely passive power limiter for guitar amplifiers. The product is as simple to explain as the name suggests: it reduces the output power of guitar amplifiers. Tube amps in particular can now be driven to saturation at any time without necessarily having to be played loudly. The Reducer developed by SPL together with the Cologne amp specialists Tonehunter is connected between the amplifier and the loudspeaker. Here it converts the amplifier's electrical energy into heat. The power reduction via resistors does not require its own power supply. "The passive principle ensures a sound reproduction without any influence on characteristics or frequency curves. The Reducer therefore works in a sound-neutral manner." says Jens Gronwald, project manager at SPL. 4, 8 or 16 ohm impedance can be selected for the amplifier output. The desired reduction can be switched in the first stages, after which the volume reduction can be adjusted continuously.
