Description
The device offers industry-leading dynamics, large console-style mixing and Audio Class Compliant connectivity via USB 2.0 (compatible with USB 3.0 and iOS).
The analog inputs are available as D-sub and Phoenix connections for studio and industrial fixed installations.
Powerful DSP's offer extensive 48-channel mixing with 12 stereo sums. The effects section with 32-bit floating point processing includes a modeled analog EQ, vintage compression and classic reverb. In addition to simple input-output routings, the comprehensive routing matrix enables complex patch scenarios, including the splitting of inputs to multiple outputs.
All functions of the 24Ai can be controlled with the innovative web app via your iPad, iPhone, tablet, smart phone or laptop, for example when used as a stand-alone mixer.
The 24Ai can be connected to a second MOTU AVB interface (24Ao, 1248, 8M or 16A) via a simple Ethernet cable. With the (optional) MOTU AVB Switch, add more MOTU AVB devices for additional inputs and outputs.
Connect several AVB switches and other MOTU AVB devices together to form an extensive AVB audio network with minimal latency in the sub-millisecond range, even with cable lengths of several hundred meters. Stream hundreds of channels between devices and different computers on the network. The 24Ai impresses with brilliant sound quality and extremely reliable operation.
The benefits of MOTU AVB
Host access via Thunderbolt or USB - MOTU is the first manufacturer to combine AVB network technology with Thunderbolt and USB connectivity. MOTU networks therefore do not require PCIe slots. Connect your host computer(s) easily and conveniently via USB or Thunderbolt.
Support for Multiple Computer Hosts - A MOTU AVB network can contain as many computers as can be physically connected. Of course, all hosts have full access to all connected devices and audio streams. All computers and all network devices are synchronized with each other and follow the network master clock.
256 I/O Channels - Over Thunderbolt, MOTU's AVB interfaces support 256 simultaneous audio channels (128 inputs plus 128 outputs).
Over 512 Network Audio Streams - MOTU's AVB network can stream over 500 audio channels. Each MOTU AVB device can transmit 16 x 8-channel network streams and simultaneously listen to 16 x 8-channel network streams.
Extremely low network latency - The standard AVB network latency is 2ms. MOTU's AVB network latency is an incredible 0.6 ms! This even over seven "hops" (switches) and hundreds of meters of cable length. For comparison, Cobranet has variable, unpredictable latency in the 5 ms range.
Star Topology - MOTU AVB uses the star network topology, which offers much greater flexibility than daisy-chain cabling, which requires dependencies of all devices in the chain.
Web Interface - MOTU's AVB system can be controlled via MOTU's control software running in virtually any web browser on any laptop, tablet or smart phone on the network.
Wireless Control - MOTU's AVB system can be controlled wirelessly through its web interface from any wireless device connected to the network, e.g. laptop, tablet or smart phone.
One-click synchronization - One press of the "Become Clock Master" button in MOTU's AVB Web App for the MOTU device you choose to be the clock master will have all other devices on the network follow immediately.
Thunderbolt Connection to Host Computer - MOTU's AVB interfaces (1248, 8M, 16A, etc.) can be connected to the host computer using Thunderbolt. Thanks to the extreme bandwidth of Thunderbolt, this allows full access to the entire AVB System network, streaming 128 audio input and output channels simultaneously, even at high sampling rates.
