From the very beginning, the characteristics were high drive torque, easy operation and long service life. It has been highly regarded by both audio enthusiasts and DJs. The latter helped the SL-1210 achieve cult status, especially in the area of ​​electronic dance music. Even today, this model series is still extremely valued by DJs all over the world. A direct-drive turntable uses a slowly rotating motor that is directly connected to the turntable and passes the movement on directly to it. For a long time, the direct drive was said to have small irregularities in the rotation due to the so-called cogging torque. A new direct drive motor was developed for the new SL-1210MK7, which works with an iron coreless stator and thus completely eliminates the cause of the cogging torque. At the same time, the driving force of the rotor magnets in the SL-1210MK7 reaches its optimum. The gap between the iron coreless stator and the rotor magnets has been improved to be similar to the torque of the previous model SL-1200MK5. The uniform rotation behavior and powerful drive torque enable precise and true-to-original sound quality on all records. The sensitive tone arm ensures high-precision scanning of the record signal. The tone arm, which reads the music information contained in the record groove, is a statically balanced S-shaped construction - typical of Technics models. The tonearm tube is made of lightweight, high-strength aluminum, while the bearing section of the gimbal has a milled housing and high-precision bearing elements. This ensures excellent scanning with a minimum of unwanted needle movement even under harsh conditions such as scratching. Dual-layer platter construction with improved vibration dampening The SL-1210MK7's platter features a dual-layer construction. Vibration-absorbing rubber covers the entire underside of the plate, which is made from injection-molded aluminum. This composite construction prevents unwanted resonance and provides high stability with superior vibration dampening, supporting the record from harmful vibrations. The result is an undisturbed, authentic sound. Highly stable housing and effective damping feet for comprehensive vibration protection The chassis of the SL-1210MK7 consists of a very stable, extremely low-vibration housing. The injection-molded aluminum chassis is firmly attached to a construction made of ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene copolymer) plastic reinforced with glass fiber. The resulting two-layer construction offers strength and vibration damping at the highest level and thus guarantees true-to-original, dynamic sound reproduction. The cushioning feet made of a spring-rubber construction ensure optimal cushioning. The high vertical damping is offset by very stiff behavior in the horizontal movement. This combination ensures uncomplicated handling, especially when scratching, and very good noise immunity - even at very high sound levels. Removable power and signal cable for greater flexibility The power and phono cables of the SL-1210MK7 are removable so that they can be quickly replaced, for example in the event of a defect. The gold-plated phono connection sockets ensure the best sound quality and contact properties. High ease of use meets innovative functions Adjustment of the starting/braking torque The SL-1210MK7 impresses with innovative motor control technologies that have been used and perfected primarily in the latest generation of Blu-ray players. Thanks to a microcomputer, the controller can easily withstand both normal playback and more demanding DJ applications such as scratching. The rotation speed of the SL-1210MK7 can be set to 33-1/3, 45 or 78 rpm.* The pitch adjustment range is ±8%/±16%.
